This innovative, user-friendly gadget impressed the international judges.
The Nero ham-slicer, designed by Spanish studio Nero Design, didn’t go unnoticed by the judges of the Red Dot Awards this year, who gave it an Honourable Mention. The international judging panel looked very favourably on this design which functions in a highly sophisticated way and is easy for users to operate.
The concept behind the Nero ham-slicer is an innovative mechanism that uses a revolving ball-joint system that allows for greater flexibility when turning, positioning and cutting ham. When attached to the slicer, the ham can be positioned so that it doesn’t touch the surface below, making the gadget easy to clean. This slicer is also space-saving: it can be placed anywhere without its base, for example above a worktop, on a table or fixed to a wall. The ham can be sliced either when leaning against a surface or when suspended in the air, and the gadget can be easily dismantled. It also stands out for its comtemporary, clean-lined aesthetic. It has a solid beech base while its main body is either available in red, black or white lacquered steel or classic stainless-steel, making it suitable for a variety of interiors.
Nero Design is an industrial design studio which was founded in Sabiñánigo in the province of Huesca in northern Spain in 2012. It oversaw the design, manufacture and promotion of the Nero ham-slicer.
