Toupie is a new armchair designed by Paris-based company Nieves Contreras for Spanish firm Beltá.
Toupie is made up of a low, wide pouffe on which rests a high backrest made of metal. The backrest’s frame can be covered with different types of fabric, depending on the season: warm, soft fabrics for winter or flexible materials like cane for summer.
The idea behind this armchair is to create a cosy nook – a quiet place to rest, listen to music, read, and so on. Its base swivels so you can position it to face one side of a living room or towards a wall or nearby window.
The firm Beltá is part of the Frajumar group, a company which specialises in upholstered furniture that’s based in the city of Yecla in Murcia, southeastern Spain.
