The Spanish artist has created a colourful collection of rugs and kilims for the company DAC Rugs.
Barcelona rug brand DAC invited Spain's popular street artist Nuria Mora to apply her love and vibrant colour and geometry to carpets. The result is a collection of 100 per cent wool kilims and rugs that will put a spring in everyone's step and add a distinctive style to a room.
Nuria Mora has developed a following over the past decade for the exuberant geometric murals she paints on walls, often in rundown parts of cities including Madrid, Tokyo and Paris. She has also brought cheer to the favelas of Rio de Janeiro and slums in Johannesburg.
Mora, who is also a sculptor and large scale origami expert, is not an underground maverick though - she has exhibited her work in galleries such as London's Tate Modern and the Miró Foundation in Barcelona, while she does collaborate from time to time with commercial brands. She has previously designed for Loewe and for art organisation Safewalls on a poster project for Cirque du Soleil.
Spanish firm DAC Rugs was founded in Barcelona in 2002. Since then, it has produced rugs sold exclusively via the web on and on commercial internet platforms. When creating its collections, it has collaborated with such well-known Spanish fashion designers as David Delfín, Victorio & Lucchino and Jordi Labanda. Handwoven in India, the rugs and kilims come in a wide variety of colours and sizes.
