Alegre Design reinvents B&V

Spanish upholstered furniture manufacturer B&V recently unveiled its new collections for 2015, designed by the studio Alegre Design — the two companies’ first collaboration. The four products — IKON, EGO, DOCKS and SIGNATURE — which have been dreamt up both for the domestic and contract markets, stand out for being good-looking, well-designed and comfortable.

Of these, IKON is the range’s signature piece. This sofa combines painstakingly made, button-backed upholstery with a form which, aerially, recalls a bath. Its legs are made of steel covered with a natural plywood finish, and its geometric, solid form stands out for its originality and elegance, making it perfect for reception areas and waiting rooms. Completing this range of products are the EGO armchair, the modular, upholstered seating system DOCKS — which, using the mínimum amount of components nevertheless allows for endless configurations and is adaptable to all kinds of interior — and the armchair or rocking chair SIGNATURE.
An industrial design and design development studio, Alegre Design has over 15 years’ experience and collaborates with such well-known furniture brands as Actiu and Andreu World. Alegre Design views design in global terms as something that not only includes a product’s aesthetic but also provides long-term practical solutions which also prolong an object’s lifespan. Its more notable, recent pieces include its WEON glasses, whose frames incorporate an electronic device that allows the user to interact with smartphones, tablets and personal computers.

Since 1992, the year it was founded, B&V has been manufacturing its goods in an upholstery workshop that combines tradition, craftsmanship, passion and experience with state-of-the-art technology. All its designs are one-off pieces created by designers and handmade by master craftspeople.
