Punt is a furniture brand synonymous with smart, sophisticated, effortlessly stylish design. Products are superbly functional and beautifully made, and with such top-selling recent collections such as Mario Ruiz's Stockholm range of credenzas and media units, it's hard to believe that just three years ago this was a company on the brink of collapse.
Export manager Pablo Gironés says the economic downturn was a nightmare even for established brands such as Punt, which was founded in 1980 (by Vicent Martínez and Lola Castelló) and built on very solid foundations. 'Although the brand was very well-known and respected in Spain, the crisis put its continuity at risk,' he explains.
Fast forward to 2015, the storm has passed and Punt is sailing on calmer waters. That, says Ferrer, is thanks to investment from venture capitalists Grup Zriser, which now owns 79.13% of the company. 'The financial restructuring and a focus on exports means our results are much better.'
