Marset receives the National Design Award 2015
Contemporary lighting company Marset recently scooped Spain’s National Design Award 2015, the most prestigious award given in Spain to companies that successfully use design as part of their business strategy.
The panel of judges recognised above all that the Barcelona-based firm’s ‘lighting designs constitute an important part of the company’s business strategy and the axis that unites its products, graphic design and company, and generates sustainable and socially responsible behaviour’. They also highlighted ‘the company’s exceptional growth in recent years, its healthy export quota and the high quality of its different collections’.
The National Design Award’s main goals are to foster a culture of good design and innovation in the business world and society in general. For Marset, design stimulates sustainable, socially responsible attitudes which positively contribute to an innovative society and better quality of life. Marset uses light as a creative medium and its designs express its vision of the world. The Spanish company considers its lighting carefully and likes it to engage all five senses: a curious eye, keen hearing, sensitive touch, nose for intuition and taste for beauty.
This year, Marset won a Wallpaper* Design Award 2015 in the ‘Best Executive Office’ category for its Ginger pendant light designed by Joan Gaspar.
