Spanish firm Point has supplied the terrace and swimming pool area of Manchester’s King Street Townhouse hotel with its Round, Hamp, Havana, Emmanuel and Siesta outdoor furniture collections.
The hotel is on King Street in the city centre. It occupies an imposing building in the Italian Renaissance style, designed by local architect Edward Salomons and built for the Manchester Salford Trustees Bank in 1872. The old building has been sympathetically refurbished and converted into a contemporary hotel oozing character. It has 40 bedrooms and suites, a bar-cum-restaurant, tearooms, meeting and event spaces and a terrace affording spectacular views of the city’s Town Hall. The hotel also boasts an infinity spa pool.
Point’s Round, Hamp, Havana and Emmanuel collections grace the hotel’s terrace, while its Siesta sun loungers are found in the pool area. Created by Spanish designer Francesc Rifé, Round comprises a family of 20 pieces — tables, chairs, sofas, armchairs and bar stools — made of natural teak and a synthetic fibre called Shintotex, developed by Point. The Havana and Emmanuel collections consist of an armchair and side table made of Shintotex, and were created by Alfonso Gallego. Finally, Siesta, by Gabriel Teixidó, is great to relax on after a dip in the pool.
Since it was founded in 1920, Point has specialised in handcrafted furniture made of woven materials. Its collections grace luxurious hotels all over the world, such as Dubai’s The Address Downtown, near the world-famous Burj Khalifa skyscraper, and One&Only The Palm, Abu Dhabi’s St Regis Saadiyat Island Resort and Diplomat Resort & Spa Hollywood in Florida.
