Milan Furniture Fair
If you're in the design business, the month of April means one thing: the Milan Furniture Fair. Spanish companies make up the largest foreign country contingent of exhibitors and this year 80 firms exhibited across the furniture fair, EuroCucina and the International Bathroom Exhibition (IBE) – the latter two shows run every two years.
Brands unveiling new products at the furniture fair, now in its 55th year, included: Vondom, Gandía Blasco, Kettal, Expormim, Andreu World, Punt, Sancal, Enea, Mobles 114, Ondarreta, Treku, nanimarquina, Naturtex, Point and Resol.
Milan Fuorisalone
As much design activity goes on across the city as in the main exhibition halls, and these many and varied events are, of course, known as Fuorisalone. Spanish brands are always keen to get stuck in.
Light+Building
Light + Building, held in Frankfurt in March, is the most important fair for the lighting and building industries. Visitors had to cover nearly a quarter of a million square metres of floor space to see the latest products, which catered for the need of all sectors, from decorative lighting for the home, to lighting for heavy industrial plants, and smart lighting for commercial and public buildings such as office blocks, schools and hospitals.Manufacturers continue to focus on energy efficiency, which means more products are going LED, although compact fluorescent remains a popular light source. Halogen is less widely used as LED spotlights improve and become more affordable.
