Spanish bathroom and accessories company Industrias Cosmic has unveiled bathroom ideas for its brands Cosmic and Pomd’or at the design world’s most prestigious fairs. Of the collections they’ve launched this year, we’d like to highlight two in particular — The Grid and Mirage, designed by Ricard Ferrer and Eugeni Quitllet respectively.
Cosmic’s architecture-inspired Grid collection is designed to equip bathrooms with a comprehensive range of furniture, basins, shower plates, mirrored cabinets and highly inventive and functional accessories. Ricard Ferrer has based his concept on the dialogue between parallel lines, and has developed proportional shapes that together build up a narrative. All the pieces are based on prisms that make a statement. In the designer’s own words ‘It’s a formal proposal in which structures become objects and microarchitecture that configures a whole network of uses’. The Grid is like a puzzle of pieces that slot together and have been designed to be as functional as possible.
Meanwhile, Pomd’or’s Mirage by Eugeni Quitllet proposes a new design tool for bathrooms. The designer presents a collection intended for the ultimate interior design of bathrooms that includes many pieces — furniture, mirrors, a washbasin, bath and hexagonal accessories that reflect light and cast shadows. They create a magical effect immersed in a sophisticated ambience that raises bathroom rituals on to an emotional plane. The pieces combine gold, rose gold and chrome with other materials such as Carrara and Marquina marble and high quality ionomer resin, which gives the collection a contemporary touch. One standout piece in the iconic Mirage collection is a hexagonal hanger with a small ruby-red heart at its centre. Its material and shape allow the light to project through the angles inside it. ‘This geometry brings visual value, resulting in refined objects. We’ve created a design that refers to glass and which is sophisticated without being baroque,’ says Quitllet.
Since 2005, Industrias Cosmic has created new bathroom designs, including accessories, furniture, washbasins, taps, lighting, mirrors etc, with the aim of seeing the bathroom as another reflection of each individual’s personality and their desire for wellbeing provided by high quality design. In the past three decades, its Cosmic and Pomd’or brands have become high-profile bathroom and bathroom accessories companies. The success of this new way of approaching bathroom design has resulted in the company exporting over 50 per cent of its goods to countries all over the world
