NOW Carpets is having a very good year. It won a prestigious NYC X Design Award at ICFF in New York for Arik Levy's Brazil rug, part of his new LANDSCAPE collection. Its rugs got great receptions at HD Expo in Las Vegas and Maison & Objet in Paris, and the company is looking ahead at the Salone Worldwide event in Moscow.
It is also finding a whole new clientele who are wowed by its gorgeous recycled polyester outdoor rug collection by Inma Bermúdez, and is making time to work with a project in Madrid that supports young designers. In short, life is hectic.
NOW Carpets has achieved in just a few years an international reputation for design vision and product quality in a sector that has a lot of big players and which is notoriously price sensitive. “We launched seven years ago - but while we're a young company, we do have a lot of experience; I've been in the carpet business for 32 years,” says Miguel Paracuellos, product manager.
If you've ever shopped for rugs, you'll know that, as with fabrics and wallpapers, there are literally thousands of designs out there. But the reason so many of us end up choosing a plain colour is that when we stop and consider whether we'll really be able to live with this or that pattern, the answer is often no... we intrinsically know it will bore us or drive us mad before too long.
