Expormim´s pop-up space in New York
This autumn, Spanish contemporary furniture company Expormim has landed for the first time in New York. Its intention is to give the design-world professionals and American public who visit it a flavour of Mediterranean style, thanks to its creative ideas. And we’re delighted that Expormim, a company whose success rests on its pieces handcrafted by specialist artesans, has a presence there.
The Valencian firm’s first pop-up space in New York is located in SoHo; it will exhibit its collections there from 13 October to 15 December. However, this temporary space has been designed to leave a more permanent mark. Its starting point was clear — to chime with the agenda of DDG Partners’ designers, who have converted the Xoco 325, a former factory (at 325 West Broadway), and its promoters. This wasn’t difficult, given that Expormim’s pieces, like Xoco 325 itself, fuse traditional and cutting-edge elements, a commitment to technological innovation allied to hand-crafting expertise and sustainable growth and a tendency towards collaborative design, all of which mirror DDG’s design philosophy.
In this space, Expormim will showcase a selection of its indoor and outdoor furniture, created by such internationally renowned designers as Jaime Hayón, Oscar Tusquets Blanca, Lievore Altherr Molina and MUT Design. LZF Lamps — a Spanish lighting company famous for the originality and spectacular quality of of its wooden, handmade lighting — has contributed to this exciting project, too. It has created an atmosphere appropriate to every room in the showroom. Expormim and LZF Lamps have collaborated to great acclaim before, successfully demonstrating the enthusiasm and vitality of contemporary Spanish and European craftsmanship.
All in all, Expormim, in collaboration with DDG Partners and LZF Lamps, aim to seduce the New York design scene with their modern goods that try to please even the most refined tastes with their unequivocally Mediterranean-flavoured style — and ensure that this autumn the experience stays fixed in people’s memories.
And as a Christmas present, Expormim offers us a new catalogue called Settings vo 1. It’s its first catalogue devoted to its interior design projects — hotels, restaurants, events and homes filled with the company’s exclusive designs as well as its most iconic projects of recent years. Its graphics have been created by MUT Design and its text is in Castilian and English. It’s been called vol 1 because the hope is that it will be the first of many catalogues.
