Upholstered furniture-maker Missana have opted for the emotional approach of Mut Design for their “Block” sofa collection, which draws inspiration from geometric forms, building blocks and curved lines inside parallelepipeds.
Block will yield endless potential, but this initial collection is made up of two 3- and 1-seater lounge chairs, where Mut Design have again shown their creativity in these unique but adaptable products. This first partnership with Missana has brought to life a versatile sofa family, defined by fun and colour. Mut Design explores a duality where opposites attract, with innovation and comfort striking up a fluent dialogue before merging harmoniously in a collection geared mainly to contract & hospitality projects, where Missana are already a leading name.
For a trendy note, Missana have used up-to-the-minute fabrics and colour-blocking – in monochrome and bold electric blue – injecting powerful personality into these lounge chairs. Harsh structural symmetry contrasts melodically with the asymmetric layout of seats and backs, and the physical and visual comfort of removable cushion covers. Guaranteed to make an impression.
Mut Design is a well-known Spanish design studio founded in 2010 by Alberto Sánchez. With emotional design as their starting point, this multidisciplinary team has been experimenting with objects in daily use right from the outset, bringing a unique freshness and quality to their work. Their latest creations include Twins lounge chairs for Expormim, the meshed mosaic collection Nut, the Onza series for Peronda and Duplex tables for Sancal.
Missana has put 20 years of passion into design, upholstery and furniture production, dreaming up innovative ideas and proposals which are handmade in their Alberic atelier in Valencia, Spain. Their work has been included in a vast number of projects and installations which have been captivated by their personal vision of upholstery, the exclusive elegance of their designs and the sturdy, lasting materials used to make their products.
