The luxurious shopping centre Alhazm recently opened in the prosperous capital of the Emirate of Qatar, combining a European atmosphere with Arab hospitality. To light up this glamorous complex, the driving force behind the project, Mohammed Al Emadi, one of the country’s leading property developers, called on Riperlamp to provide its luminaires.
The mall is located on a hill from which it gets the name “Alhazm”, which means "elevated land" in Arabic, and was inspired by the Galleria Vittorio Emanuele II in Milan. External features include a small glass pyramid similar to the one found in the Louvre in Paris and olive trees which add a Mediterranean touch to the landscaping.
Inside the complex, we find the lighting created by Riperlamp. The project’s promoter travelled to Spain and worked closely with the company’s design team to create large-scale pieces from bronze decorated with aged leather to set off to effect the building’s sumptuous marble cladding. All the lamps and lanterns were handmade for a facility that required large formats. The design and manufacturing process took around six months to complete.
Spanish company Riperlamp has more than 32 years’ experience in the lighting sector and its facilities in Ribarroja del Turia, near Valencia, undertake production processes like casting, mechanisation, decoration and assembly by hand. They have their own design department and technical office which create special and bespoke lighting for all kinds of projects, including villas, palaces, hotels, malls and other large facilities. The international success of its creations is reflected by the fact that exports account for more than 95% of turnover.
