La Cartuja de Sevilla was born in 1841 thanks to the innovative spirit of the English Pickman family in Andalusia. The factory was set up in the La Cartuja Monastery and brought the industrial revolution to Seville. The quality of its pieces of china and its tableware is the result of industrial innovations imported by Charles Pickman and the help of several generations of Sevillian artisans. Thus, in 1862 it was awarded the gold medal at the International Exhibition in London and in Paris in 1878. In 1871, it became the official supplier for the Royal Household.
Currently, as a result of the collaboration with the American designer Aaron Stewart and his partner Fernando Rodríguez, one of La Cartuja’s most iconic and traditional designs has been revamped with a single touch of colour, giving rise to the capsule collection NEGRO VISTAS by AARON STEWART HOME.Thanks to this original touch, the NEGRO VISTAS collection acquires a modern design.
This is yet another one of the collaborations in which La Cartuja de Sevilla’s new period is shaped, combining all its tradition with the most daring proposals, reflected in the contemporary collections VEGA 175 by Isaac Piñeiro; GEORGICA by Carmen García Huerta; and the new NEW TALENTS line by Ana Jarén, aimed at a younger audience.
