This year’s Helsinki Design Week will be providing another opportunity to enjoy input from one of Spain’s top designers, Álvaro Catalán de Ocón. He’ll be joining Finnish designer Harri Koskinen at the Spanish Embassy on September 12 to talk about what drives him and the world of design as part of Design Diplomacy. This is not the first occasion this event has included Spanish designers. Last year’s guest was Andreu Carulla and in 2016, Martín Guixé.

From September 6 to 16, Helsinki Design week will be offering diverse activities involving 13 different countries. One of these features Andreu Carulla and Mikko Laakkonen, whose encounter at Design Diplomacy last year has led to their designing a collection of objects to celebrate 100 years of diplomatic relations between Finland and Spain. The articles will go on display at the Spanish ambassador’s residence and are the result of partnerships with brands MOBLES114, LZF Lamps and nanimarquina.
