From April 9 to 14, Milan becomed an international showcase for homeware and design, as the world’s top furniture and lighting brands presented their latest creations. This year marks the 58th edition of the Milan International Furniture Fair , and the 31st edition of the Euroluce lighting show. The five fairs comprising the event were visited by over 386,000 professionals and visitors hailing from 181 countries and five continents.
With over 100 brands from 77 firms, Spain was for yet another year the second-ranked country in terms of exhibitors at all of the event’s fairs, just after Italy. There were 48 Spanish companies presenting their latest offers in furniture, design and decoration at the four fairs for furniture, design and decoration. As for the Euroluce fair, 29 Spanish lighting firms were among the exhibitors. Spain’s presence at the fair was rounded off with Spanish designers participating in the Salone Satellite, an event dedicated to young designers and emerging talents in the field of design.
Regarding events where you can see Spanish design, one of the exhibitions at the Fuorisalone which stands out is “Inspired in Barcelona: Mediterranean Design” . Organized by the BCD Barcelona, and promoted by Catalonia Trade & Investment and Barcelona city Council, this exhibition was taken place at Via Dante 14. An installation designed by the Emiliana Design studio was presented here. It displays a snippet of the lifestyle in the Mediterranean capital, using design pieces from Catalan companies. Similarly, a number of Spanish companies participated in installations and exhibitions, and showed off their most recent designs at showrooms in the city of Milan. One such firm was Kriskadecor. You’ll be able to see their metal curtains as façade cladding at Archiproducts Milano (located at Via Tortona) and also at the Serena Confalonieri installation at MM Centrale/Caiazzo.
