Spanish furniture and lighting firms receive prizes at the Red Dot Awards 2019

The prize-giving ceremony of the prestigious Red Dot Awards 2019 was held on 9th July in the German city of Essen. Among the winners, design pieces from five Spanish furniture and lighting firms received prizes in the "Product Design" category.

The NIX chair, designed by Patrick Norguet for Capdell, was a prizewinner in the "Office furniture and office chairs" category, while the KARBON chair, created by the ITEM Designwork studio for Actiu, was an awardee in the "Office furniture and office chairs" category.

There were several winners in the "Lighting and lamps" category: the INVITING table lamp, designed by Bohman&Folenius for Faro Barcelona; the AURA collection, designed by the Yonoh studio for Kriskadecor; and the ART hanging lamp, a creation by Rubén Saldaña and Luis Latrás for Arkoslight.

Expormim has also been awarded the Red Dot Brand & Communication Design for the best website.

Dating back to 1955, the Red Dot Awards are organised each year by Design Zentrum Nordrhein Westfalen in Essen, Germany. The jury deliberating on these awards is made up of 40 international experts. In the "Product Design" category, they award prizes for good design and creativity, assessing products based on their innovativeness, formal qualities, functionality and durability. With respect to this year's edition of the Red Dot Awards, over 5,500 products from all over the world were presented. As for the 80 award-winning products, they'll enjoy international recognition for high design quality.
