In 2019, Vibia inaugurated its new headquarters and showroom. The goal is to make this a meeting point and a place of inspiration for architects, interior designers, designers and lighting professionals who visit the premises. The interior design of the reception area and the showroom is the work of the Francesc Rifé Studio.
The main entrance of these new headquarters reflects what the building as a whole aims to convey: brightness, playfulness, transparency and respect for architectural spaces. Francesc Rifé enveloped the reception area in a dusty-pink wood lattice to regulate climate conditions, to protect it from the very bright sunlight, and to offer privacy. Various collections by this brand are displayed in the 2,050 m² showroom. At the heart of it is the ‘Light your Way’ room. This oak-panelled space – designed by Francesc Rifé – is a sophisticated way of showing clients how lighting projects can be customised from a technological and sensory aspect. Two black built-in storage cabinets stand out, allowing visitors to interact with different lighting products by combining a series of elements and colour swatches. 90% of Vibia’s lighting systems can be customised thanks to this unique room – the result of constant dialogue between designers and architects to move forward and imagine the lighting of the future.
The large terrace area was created by the designer Josep Lluís Xuclà. Two stunning large pergolas provide protection from the sun and fulfil a dual function: firstly, it is a space for showcasing Vibia’s outdoor lighting collections; and secondly, it is a space for holding meetings and hosting events in the open air.
The project for the offices and for the factory, that are in the same building, was carried out by the Saus Riba Llonch architecture studio and the interior designer Carlota Portavella. Daylight is an important element in both spaces, as are the views, and these come together to create functional places that are appealing to work in. Vibia’s new headquarters are a design centre that contributes to the enhancement of this Spanish brand’s international reach.
The firm currently exports its lighting systems to 103 countries and has a subsidiary in the United States. The construction covers a total area of 16,000 m² and, in addition to offices and the showroom, includes a factory with automated goods handling and a warehouse where robotic technology is used. Its location, close to the centre of Barcelona, and just a stone's throw from the airport, make Vibia very convenient for both local as well as international professionals.
