Let's take a look back at the year's first major gathering of home and gift trends, “Maison & Objet” in Paris, where we discover collections by four Spanish creators which will steal the heart of any lover of artisanal design.
Sculptor and artist Nuria Torres presented her small porcelain sculptures at the Interiors from Spain stand, items which she sells in her Popcelain Gallery boutique. Handmade in her studio, she creates unique, striking sculptures shaped like balloons with mouths, ghosts and popcorn kernels.
The design studio Goula y Figuera presented Gofi, a brand created in 2018 which produces and sells furniture, lighting and home accessories made in small series and using semi-artisanal techniques. Their designs are simple, clean and vibrant, and include everything from chairs to graphic artwork intended to carry on the "maverick" spirit of the product which started it all.
Among the textile collections we find MORNO, a collection of home textiles produced in limited editions from sustainable materials. These pieces were designed by Ines RIR in her studio and are hand-woven from Spanish Merino wool using an ancient traditional Galician technique. The collection is inspired by water and the way it flows, and can be displayed as textile art tapestries or enjoyed against the skin when used as throws or rugs.
Finally, interior designer Romina Gris shared his personal ceramic project inspired by the world of fine arts and architecture. Romina Gris' vases are made from porcelain, in shapes inspired by postmodern buildings such as those designed by Michael Graves and Aldo Rossi.
Most of the creations presented here can be purchased online, via the creators' websites.
