The end of May saw the inauguration of the new stage for theatrical, musical, dance and circus performances by “La Comédie de Clermont.” This facility, which was awarded the “National Stage” label in France in 1997, has been completely renovated by architects Eduardo Soto Moura (Pritzker Prize 2011) and Bruhat Bouchaudy. And to equip this spectacular project, Spanish company Ezcaray Seating was chosen to manufacture a customized model of armchairs for this unique building.
After more than twenty-two years without a venue of its own, “La Comédie de Clermont-Ferrand Scène Nationale” now has a space to hold its cultural events. Renovation work began four years ago, and at last this year the inhabitants and visitors of this French region can enjoy this grandiose theater that stands on the former site of the city's bus station. With a total surface area of 9,298 m², this new venue includes the “Salle de l'Horizon” with 878 seats, as well as the “Salle des Possibles,” which is fully modular and can accommodate 336 seated spectators and more than 1,000 standing spectators.
Ezcaray Seating has been designing, manufacturing, and installing seating for cinemas, theaters, conference centers, educational centers, sports facilities, and community centers since 1955. Headquartered in La Rioja, Spain, the company exports more than 75% of its production to more than 50 countries. The main markets include France, Portugal, Morocco, and the Middle East, among others.
The company produces more than 50,000 seats per year that meet the most demanding quality and environmental standards and has its own team that designs customized projects adapted to the needs of each client and each space, using the most modern and innovative technologies applied to production systems.
