At the end of last year, the winning companies and design studios of this year’s German Design Awards were announced. Two Spanish companies won the award: Faro Barcelona won in the ‘Excellent Product Design Lighting’ category for its FUJI lamp, designed by Isaac Piñeiro, and Woodendot won in the ‘Excellent Product Design Furniture’ category for its ALADA folding desk.
The company Ondarreta also won a ‘Gold’ award in the ‘Excellent Product Design Eco Design’ section for the HARI chair, created by Estudi{h}ac. And the Spanish furniture and lighting companies that received ‘Special Mentions’ in the ‘Excellent Product Design Furniture’ category included: Sancal, for its Remnant armchair, and Federico Giner, for the SIDA chair, designed by Alegre Design. Likewise, the portable lamp BUDDY, designed by Andreu Carulla for Faro Barcelona received another special mention in the ‘Excellent Product Design Lighting’ category.
The German Design Awards are one of the most respected design awards in Germany, providing their recipients with outstanding prestige all around the world. These distinguished awards, founded ten years ago, are presented by the ‘German Design Council’, which each year recognizes projects and products worldwide that represent pioneering contributions to the arena of international design.
