Spanish designer Andreu Carulla has designed the bottles for the new Esperit Roca collection of alcoholic beverages for the three Michelin star restaurant El Celler de Can Roca. A co-creation effort with the Run design studio also participating on the graphics. The packaging has been created between the two.
The Esperit Roca collection is made up of two ranges of alcoholic beverages, which the Roca brothers define as "liquid cuisine" and the "essence of the landscape": the most sophisticated from cocoa distillates, and the other, "Paratges", inspired by the landscapes of the Mediterranean forests related to the Roca family's imaginary, with names as suggestive as Roca's Tea Gin, Vi amb Arrels and Aiguardent de Garrofa.
The bottles of the "Paratges" line designed by Andreu Carulla to contain these drinks are inspired by the instruments of an alchemist whose goal is to "distill the landscape". True to their principles of sustainability, they are made from recycled glass (produced in an artisan workshop in Italy), and the base of the bottle, far from being smooth, reproduces the rough texture of the surface of a rock. The cork stopper is crowned with a cylindrical piece sculpted in stone, once again linking the essence of the liqueurs with the landscape that inspires them. The boxes for transportation have been made in Figueres using local wood.
The Cacao series (Cocoa Gin, Cocoa Liqueur and Cocoa Esperit), on the other hand, distills the essence of cacao, bringing out its individuality, authenticity and eloquence, through a design that makes that delicious ingredient shine through in liquid form, and the bottles have a stylized, elongated shape. The stopper, which is made of wood, shares the same geometric language, with an elongated silhouette. Recycled cardboard boxes produced in Tarrasa (Barcelona) have been designed to use for transportation.
With this new collection of drinks, Andreu Carulla, Run design and the Roca brothers wanted to pay tribute to the joyful after-dinner conversations where "liquid nature" is shared. Drops of slow life preserved in very special packaging. And if you want to buy them, they are available at the Casa Cacao store and Hotel Casa Cacao in Gerona, and at the Casa Cacao Pop-up at the Mandarin Oriental Hotel in Barcelona. You can also find them on the web.
