The IF Design Awards were awarded last February, drawing 10,800 participants from 72 countries, reaffirming its status as one of the world's most prestigious design competitions. This year, 40 Spanish companies and 22 design studios were honored. Rols Carpets was the sole Spanish recipient of the IF DESIGN AWARDS GOLD, the highest accolade bestowed by the jury, for their Strata carpet.
Spanish design has garnered notable acclaim in the “products” category, with Paneles Acústicos Ecocero leading the charge by securing 3 awards: one for the MEET acoustic panel, designed by Alonso Nomdedeu, another for the FLAP absorbent ceiling by Gutiérrez and Ortega, and the final one for the LUMOMESH acoustic solution crafted by The Room Studio. Additionally, Roca Sanitario clinched 3 IF Design Awards in the bathroom category, with accolades for its Avant® and In-Wash® toilets, as well as the Nu faucet designed by Studio Inma Bermúdez.
Inclass, the third most awarded company, was acknowledged for the Lin bench and the Esitt office chair, both designed by the Alegre Design studio. Among other notable recipients in the product category are COMPAC, honored for its innovative surface material designed by Culdesac; Tecsoled, recognized for its modular lighting design, Way; Aquabella, acclaimed for the Noon Slate bathtub; Sanycces, lauded for the Oasis bathroom collection by Jorge Herrera; and Ezpeleta, in collaboration with the Yonoh studio, celebrated for the Trena outdoor chair collection.
In the "Textiles/Walls/Floor" category, Font Barcelona unveiled its new Balearic wiring device cover plates, designed by Oriol Guimerà, also earning recognition. Among the Spanish brands lauded by the IF Awards jury, we also find the Plaisir tableware designed by Nacar Design for Comas & Partners, the Mokuren chandelier by Lladró, as well as Actiu, honored for their A+S Work office chairs, crafted by Alegre Design. Finally, Noken Porcelanosa Bathrooms was awarded for the Swan faucet.
Among the 22 awarded Spanish design studios, Animas Design leads the pack with 5 accolades. Close behind are Alegre Design, Nacar Design, and Series Nemo, each with 3 awards. Also celebrated in this edition are Lúcid Design, Innova Industrial Design, and Ariño Design, each securing 2 IF Design Awards.
The IF DESIGN Awards, organized by the world’s oldest independent design society, the iF International Forum Design GmbH, for the past 70 years, will be presented on April 29th. This year, the event promises to highlight the pinnacle of global design, celebrating innovation, creativity, and excellence in all disciplines.
