This year, the leading rug design brands have unveiled their new collections for 2024, showcasing a fascinating combination of creative innovation and traditional craftsmanship.
Gan has collaborated with renowned designers to present distinctive and unique collections. The LINES collection, created by Mayice Studio, stands out for its long-pile rugs that pay tribute to merino wool, hand-woven in India using the hand loom technique. Meanwhile, WEAVE, by jewelry designer Helena Rohner, materializes an open and risky creative concept with wool and color as the main protagonists. A blend of textures, geometric patterns, and vibrant and powdery colors. Finally, following their first collaboration, Daria Zinovatnaya and GAN are teaming up again for a new creative adventure: LOKO. In the manner of experimental chromatic collages, the two models in the series are handcrafted into visually stunning compositions that celebrate form and color in their purest state.
These collections are complemented by two in-house designer collections. Designed by Jose Gandía-Blasco, the LA GERIA-LANZAROTE collection is inspired by the land and homage to the tradition, craftsmanship, and the natural beauty of the Canary Island. A rug that brings warmth and texture to any space. Meanwhile, Alejandra Gandía-Blasco's NOMAD stands out for its focus on sustainability. Made from 100% recycled fibers, this collection offers lightweight and versatile rugs for both indoor and outdoor settings.
Nani Marquina presents her PEARLS collection, designed in collaboration with Sabine Finkenauer, which offers a modular and urban interpretation of elemental forms. This series stands out for its ability to add visual dynamism and versatility to decoration. In addition, in honor of the 100th anniversary of Eduardo Chillida's birth, the brand is launching the CHILLIDA collection, inspired by the “Gravitaciones” series. These new pieces capture the sculptural essence of Chillida through artisanal techniques.
Nani Marquina has also launched two notable collections: COLORADO and WABI SABI. COLORADO, created in collaboration with Inga Sempé, blends tradition and modernity, using leftover thread to create unique patterns and textures that play with light and movement. WABI SABI, for its part, explores the beauty of imperfection inspired by traditional Japanese arts. This collection celebrates the acceptance of impermanence with handcrafted designs in 100% New Zealand wool.
Finally, Now Carpets has made a mark with the BRAZIL collection, designed by Arik Levy, which won the NYCX Design Award in the Residential Flooring category. This collection features designs that evoke the grandeur of nature, using a blend of wool and bamboo to create contrasts between rugged and soft textures.
