Andreu World recently presented the “Valencia Stool,” a solidarity design by designer Patricia Urquiola. The aim of this project is to raise funds to rebuild the areas affected by the DANA floods in Valencia, the company's home region, at the end of October last year.
Beyond its functionality, the stool serves as a symbol of solidarity, sustainability, and social responsibility. Patricia Urquiola, the designer behind the piece, explained: “It’s deeply inspired by the emotional and physical impact this natural disaster had on Valencia. Its deformed appearance symbolizes the force of the water and the adversity overcome, while the interwoven texture evokes the resilient spirit of a community rising above hardship.”
The Valencia stool is manufactured through 3D printing from organic, biodegradable, and compostable materials, demonstrating a true commitment to responsible design. Distributed through Andreu World's international network, all profits from its sale will go directly to supporting the affected communities and rebuilding the impacted areas.
Through this project, Andreu World and Patricia Urquiola show how Spanish design can be a powerful force for positive change—not just aesthetically, but also socially and environmentally.
