Valencian company Viccarbe has become one of the most internationally renowned firms on the Spanish design scene. With a presence in over 60 countries, its products, which have a very pronounced functional, minimalist aesthetic, lend themselves perfectly to furnishing all kinds of public areas.
Its most significant projects number furnishing New York’s Grand Hyatt hotel, the offices and VIP lounge of American Express in Mexico City’s international airport and those of Deutsche Bank in Hong Kong.
One of its most recent jobs was a project undertaken by Kohina Architects & Vallila Interiors – the upgrading of the relaxation areas in Microsoft’s new offices in Finland. The multinational company’s idea was to introduce a new, more flexible approach to working which would both enhance the wellbeing of its employees and the company’s productivity. With this goal in mind, Microsoft’s offices were redesigned to create a variety of work environments and give its staff the freedom to use their PCs, webcams and smart phones wherever they wish.
For this project, Viccarbe supplied its Aspa table. Designed by Francesc Rifé, this is one of the company’s bestselling products. It comprises a table which comes in three heights and has a three-legged base. Viccarbe also provided its Mass sofa in an enormous size – another Rifé design in a minimalist style that’s versatile and can be rearranged in countless configurations – and, finally, some of its Last Minute stools, designed by Patricia Urquiola. All these pieces render Microsoft’s Finland offices comfortable and ultra-modern
