Kriskadecor continues to bring its innovative aluminum chain solutions to high-impact projects. Two outstanding installations demonstrate the versatility and aesthetic appeal of its artistic façades and curtains: the new façade of Ginza 41 restaurant in Andorra la Vella, and the wall covering of Lobby E at Das Center in Berlin’s Potsdamer Platz.
Following the success of its first location on Meritxell Avenue, Ginza 41 began renovating its ground-floor space with the goal of designing a façade that would embody both modern style and Japanese identity. Measuring 13.7 meters wide by 3.4 meters high, the double skin of tensioned aluminum chains (using Kriskadecor’s KDO Fixed system) creates a striking visual effect. Developed in collaboration with the architect Àfrica Sabé, Kriskadecor, and Auxini, the façade features a high-definition image rendered in 15 RAL colors. It depicts a Japanese landscape across an epoxy-coated aluminum framework, blending the shimmer of metal with the warmth of wood.
Beyond its visual impact, the chains also hide four windows from the adjacent hotel, provide ventilation, and filter sunlight to reduce heat transfer. The system has been tested to withstand winds of up to 210 km/h, ensuring long-term durability with minimal maintenance. Its lightweight, flexible structure allows for easy installation and customization of size, shape, and color, making it ideal for replicating logos or patterns on the surface.
Meanwhile, in the heart of Potsdamer Platz, the newly renovated Lobby E—part of Kinzo’s ambitious revitalization of Das Center—has become an entryway that blurs the line between the urban exterior and the indoor space. The opposing wings of the lobby, clad in Kriskadecor chains, mirror the pixelated silhouette of the surrounding skyscrapers in vivid shades of green and yellow. These chains bring character to the seven-meter-high space and discreetly conceal the ducts and technical elements.
In one area, the green tones evoke freshness and a connection to nature, while the yellow hues in the other area radiate warmth and energy. Together, they form two environments that are almost like reflections of one another, each with its own distinct personality. A reception desk and a large communal table are also wrapped in chain cladding, creating an inviting atmosphere for meetings and socializing. Thanks to its design, Lobby E has become a meeting place that embodies the contemporary spirit of Berlin.
