Sancal in the Offices of Banks and Finance Companies in Switzerland and Bulgaria

On December 14, 2021, the "Aile Est" (East Wing) of Geneva Airport (Switzerland) came into service. This renovation project represents a major improvement in terms of comfort and operational flexibility. The new facilities replace a space that was built for temporary use in the mid-1970s, and it was in need of change. This project has been possible thanks to the Rogers Stirk Harbour + Partners (RSHP) architecture studio, who put their trust in Sellex to equip the waiting areas of the new facility. One of the company’s design icons, the AERO bench, was chosen, and the airport has installed two hundred and fifty AERO benches, including four- and eight-seaters, some with built-in side tables. All are self-supporting and upholstered in different colors with a visible stripe, to match the color scheme of each area and help travelers to find their way around. The AERO bench, designed by Lievore Altherr Molina, was identified by the team at RSHP as a product that met the quality standards required for the new facility. As Douglas Paul, Associate Partner in charge of the project says, the bench “fits comfortably with the structural concept of the Aile Est.”The renovated airport building is efficient, sustainable, and resilient. This has been achieved by installing seven thousand square meters of photovoltaic panels on the roof, one hundred and ten geothermal stacks for heating and cooling, an in-depth thermal performance analysis to eliminate cold bridges, energy efficient cool roofs, a LED lighting strategy with responsive control systems, and low water consumption using methods such as rainwater harvesting.Along with sustainability, durability was a determining factor in the project design. The materials used were selected in accordance with this criterion; all are low-maintenance and well able to withstand the constant flow of passengers. The finishes are granite, and transparent glass or back-painted panels have been used, depending on the area. You can see how the AERO bench is a perfect fit with the airport: seating that can withstand the test of time and is adapted to suit the different spaces. You'll find benches upholstered in blue, green, yellow, orange, red, gray, and purple.SELLEX is a furniture design company with 45 years of experience that has collaborated with designers such as Lievore Altherr Molina, Gemma Bernal, Mario Ruiz, Burkhard Vogtherr, and Carlos Tíscar, and has completed over a thousand installations in more than forty countries all around the world.  Photos Copyright Joás Souza: www.joasphotographer.com

Workspaces by Actiu Designed to Promote People's Well-being

The office furniture firm Actiu designs cozy and functional workspaces that support people’s well-being. An example of this would be their latest projects in France, Austria and Estonia.Solystic, the leading company in logistics solutions for the sorting, automation and distribution of packages, opened its new head office in the French city of Alixan in 2020. The firm prides itself on being a company with hardly any hierarchies, which gives employees a large amount of decision-making ability and autonomy and is committed to open and fluid offices. To achieve this, the architectural firm responsible for the project, Workfriendly, chose Actiu furniture to equip its offices and cafeteria. Two spaces in which they combined furniture in earth and oak tones with touches of brighter colors, such as blue, green or orange to achieve a warm and contemporary setting for work and relaxation. For the "open space” work stations the Vital Plus ST system and Mobility designed by ITEMdesignworks were selected, which, being height adjustable, guarantee the postural mobility and health of employees. Tabula tables and Noom chairs  created by the Alegre Design studio, which also designed the Cron chairs located in the two VIP meeting rooms, were installed in the offices for executives and small rooms for informal meetings. The cafeteria was equipped with the comfortable Wing chairs by the Ramos and Bassols studio, which together with their versatile Longo seating system and the informal Bend seats by Stone Design make you feel right at home.Hartlauer,  the optical and electronics chain opened their new head officein a historic building in the Austrian town of Steyr and Actiu has participated with its Austrian partner Sentup, equipping the open spaces of the office with the ergonomic Trim chair created by Alegre Design and the height-adjustable Mobility Step table. To make the meeting rooms elegant and welcoming, Arkitek tables and Noom 30 armchairs were selected. And one of the employee meeting areas has also been equipped with comfortable modules and tables from the Soft Seating Bend program and the Prisma high table, which invites you to have a drink in a relaxed setting. The new offices in Tallinn (Estonia) for the American company that creates Malwarebytes software are another example of Actiu's ability to adapt its products to different ways of working. The folding and height-adjustable office desks such as Mobility, the ergonomic and functional chairs such as Stay,  designed by Alegre Design, and in general the versatility of the Spanish firm’s products together with their Estonian partner Elke Mööbel, have won over this Californian technology company, which already chose Actiu in 2016 for one of the floors in its first home office in the country.

Sancal Furnishes New Spaces in Israel and Russia

Spanish designer furniture firm Sancal has furnished the One1 Offices in the city of Petah Tikva, very close to Tel Aviv, Israel, and the Sight. Coffee and Dine restaurant located in the historic district of St. Petersburg, Russia. Both installations were completed in 2019, and are examples of the significant international reach of the brand, which had already proven its strength on the foreign market with projects such as the VIP lounge at Gatwick Airport, London, the hotels Ovolo Woolloomooloo in Sidney, Australia, and the Generator in Amsterdam, Netherlands, and other offices such as for the firm Campari in Toronto, Canada. The 6100 square meter One1 Offices were developed by the EN Design studio and consisted primarily of furnishing the office’s break and eating areas, as well as other common areas. The design was chosen following the “ONE color / ONE function” concept, using gray as the chromatic unit for establishing an open, dynamic and creative space. A contrast with that dominant color was created by using upholstered pieces and auxiliary furniture from the brand, such as the La Isla sofa, different versions of side tables and Mosaico occasional chairs designed by Yonoh, Tortuga-type easy chairs created by the Nadadora studio, Tea, created by EstudiHac, and Meeting Point stools. Meanwhile, the Sight. Coffee and Dine restaurant project in St. Petersburg furnished a 150 square meter area and was carried out by Form Architecture. The restaurant layout divided the space according to the needs of the clients. A café area was provided at the front, while the back of the premises were set up for lunch. The idea was to design a gastronomical space creating a natural and relaxed atmosphere. To achieve that, the choice of colors was essential, in a soft pallet combined with the natural light that comes in through the picture windows. The original style was also included in the design, with concrete and brick walls. The project used primarily the silla40 chair created by Isaac Piñeiro from the Nadadora studio and the Magnum chair designed by EstudiHac for the brand. Sancal is a Spanish family business specializing in contemporary upholstered furniture. Their use of color and a timeless, eclectic style, together with the evolution of the style and value-added product design, are some of the foundations that make up and create the firm’s own style, far removed from conventionalism and the limitations of atmospheres in perfect harmony. All of that, and their dedication to people and know-how in producing their upholsteries make the firm a benchmark Spanish company.
