RS Barcelona is a family company, with more than 40 years of history, which for 15 years has been creating and manufacturing in Viladecans (Barcelona) designer football, ping pong and billiard tables. Their differential edge is that these designs can be converted into tables for eating or working. Additionally, they design all types of side tables and seating, as well as other furniture. In its showroom + design concept store in Barcelona, customers who visit it can see and buy the company's collections, as well as other designer products from other brands.
RS Barcelona creates "intense living" products with a high component of design and functionality, but at the same time designed to share unforgettable moments and experiences while we play, work and live with them. They are exciting pieces that offer versatile solutions for any type of space: home, office or hospitality, and environments: indoors or outdoors.
15 years of history playing
RS Barcelona is the story of a dream born in 1975, in a small sheet metal workshop opened by the toolmaker Rafael Rodríguez Castillo, which eventually became an industrial building near Barcelona where he worked with his two sons. This passion for creating, combined with their experience in the craft of metalworking, led them to design the brand's first iconic product, the RS2 foosball table. A piece that unites play and design and moves the foosball table from the garage to the living room, the hub of life at home. In 2006, RS Barcelona joins its destiny to Vinçon, the reference store of design in Barcelona, which exhibits this foosball table in its shop window and offers to the public a product that is not only a game, but a way to enjoy life.
In 2007, it expanded its product offering with the "Wall Champions" hanger, a practical decorative coat rack that takes soccer players from the field of play to the wall. That same year they began their internationalization process by participating in the Milan Design Week, where they met the Stone Designs studio, which in the following years would design their first lines of furniture such as the On the road bench, the "By yourshelf" bookshelf, the "Spongy" sofa and armchair, and the "Drops" side tables.
Between 2010 and 2012 the Spanish firm continued its internationalization process by collaborating with Japanese designer Shigeki Fujishiro on the "Eiffel" paper stool and participating in fairs in the USA, France and Italy. They launch the RS3 foosball table, featuring the first female foosball player "Ella" and the RS3 Wood version. A year later, a new game was added to the brand's playtime universe: the "You and Me" ping pong table created by the Antoni Pallejà Office studio with dual functionality as a ping pong table and as a dining or meeting table. Antoni Pallejà also designed the bench of the same name and the "Plec" table.
Gastronomy, gaming and design went hand in hand in 2014, when chef José Andrés together with designer Juli Capella incorporated in his Jaleo restaurants in the USA the RS2 Dining table, a foosball table converted into a table for the "Hospitality” sector. In addition, this year the Spanish brand completed its offer for the gastronomic universe with the "Mon Oncle" portable barbecue, designed by Mermelada Estudio.
The precision, elegance and atmosphere surrounding the sport of billiards reignite the spark of creativity of the company that together with the Yonoh studio design in 2018 the "Diagonal" billiard table.
A year later, four pieces are presented that tell stories without limits to the imagination: The unique "Ombra" stool, by Emiliana Design Studio, speaks of encounters in a bar. The versatile "B-around", by Antoni Pallejà Office, of conversations around that big family table. The discreet "Diagonal" trolley by Yonoh, of moments of intimacy and reflection. And the fresh "Nansa" bag, by Andreu Carulla, inspired by the sea, takes us to the beach. And, in the midst of the pandemic, the company continues to grow with the RS MAX collection of foosball tables, the 8-player version of the RS3 Wood that helps us overcome moments of family confinement and invites us to think of a future of sharing unique moments while eating and playing at the same time.
Sustainability, Durability and Craftsmanship
RS Barcelona designs and manufactures its products in a sustainable way, thinking about people's well-being and respect for the environment. Their designs are manufactured with high quality, durable and recyclable materials to be enjoyed with no expiration date. All this combined with the wisdom of expert craftspeople who work and mold each of the materials to offer the best version of each product.
RS Barcelona exports 95% of the company's turnover, mainly to the USA and Europe. For more than 10 years, it has had a logistics warehouse in New Jersey, from which it provides fast and efficient service to customers in the North American market, and at the end of 2019 it opened its US subsidiary in Los Angeles: "RS Barcelona LLC", to serve customers and projects in that market. It also has points of sale and showrooms all over the world to reach both the final public and professionals of interior design and architecture; with online partners in the USA and Europe and for more than 10 years on its website has its own online store (EU SHOP and USA SHOP) from where you can purchase all its products.
