Among the "professionals" in the world of design, this year's top award went to the designer Inmaculada Bermúdez. She is being recognized for her constant creative honesty and commitment to environmental and social sustainability, and has become a new benchmark for Spanish design on the international scene.
In the "companies" category, the National Design Award was won by the Basque firm Enea for its four decades of experience as a solid national and international benchmark in furniture design and for its firm commitment to the local environment and its identifying traits and culture.
In the "Innovation" section, the National Award in the "Large Company" category went to Sacyr for establishing an ambitious business model for the coming decades based on innovation and a new vision for the deployment of infrastructure and services. And in the "Small and Medium Enterprise" category, Marine Instruments won for being a clear example of an innovative company that, thanks to the development of knowledge-based technologies, can transform traditional sectors such as the fishing industry.
The other "professionals" awarded in the field of design and innovation were Alba González and Rocío Arroyo. Alba González won the award in the "Young Designers" category, for showing how design is capable of providing solutions and intervening across the board in complex fields such as biomedicine and the development of biomechanical prostheses. Rocío Arroyo won in the "Innovative Career" category, for her career of more than 20 years as a scientist, researcher, and innovative entrepreneur in the application of disruptive technologies to the prevention and early detection of cancer.
Finally, the following received two Special Mentions: Emilio García, in the "Innovative Trajectory" category, for being a benchmark in the development of innovative technologies and solutions for transforming the railroad sector and an example of how innovation is the key to success.
