Madrid Design Festival 2025
During February and March, the city of Madrid will host the eighth edition of Madrid Design Festival, the first design event of the year in Europe. The program is packed with activities and exhibitions on product design, architecture, interior design, and communication, with Berlin as the guest city.
Under the slogan Redesigning the world, the festival aims to showcase the creative leaders of the moment, offering inspiring examples of design that drive innovation in the sector. Among the activities is the exhibition at the Centro Cultural de la Villa Fernán Gómez "La línea sueña", a display curated by Javier Riera that brings together about 45 creators and brands, showcasing approximately 70 works and installations that reflect various ways of perceiving and constructing elements to illuminate our environment.
From February 19 to 22, MadridDesignPRO will take place at the Institución Libre de Enseñanza, where the role of design as a link between the past and the future to enrich new creative solutions will be explored. Various gatherings will address this and other topics, such as "Materiales y diseños versátiles para escenarios cambiantes" with Inma Bermúdez, Ana Castro(Finsa) and Esther Castaño (Sancal); "Diseñar para cuidar” with Emiliana Design Studio; "Una mirada a lo esencial. Nada falta, nada sobra" with Isern Serra, "Work in Progress x CMPLASTIK" with Héctor Serrano, Miguel Leiro, Eli Gutiérrez and Pablo Alabau; or "The Digital Frontier: Virtual Spaces and Their Place in Our World" with seven panelists from the field of design and architecture. These gatherings will be accompanied by exhibitions such as the "Suricata Party,” showcasing the desks created by Inma Bermúdez for Finsa; the 4×4 Collection by FORMICA Group, a limited edition of design furniture created by Nacho Álvarez, Manuel Espejo, Sigfrido Serra, and Virginia Albuja; "Castilla La-Mancha. Tramar el barro" or a retrospective of the 5 years of the MINI Awards. Also included are installations such as "Un viaje efímero del agua," designed by MUT Design, and workshops like "Tejiendo la sostenibilidad. Weaving sustainability” supported by Finsa.
The festival we will also feature multiple activities, including exhibitions like "+Ke LUZ," curated by Ciuco Gutiérrez and Teresa Herrero, showcasing lamp designs by various authors and artists, including national design award winners Álvaro Catalán de Ocón and Héctor Serrano; "Tocados y Luminados", with designs by Candela Cort for LZF Lamps or “Mujer X Mujer: Diseño en Transición", a group exhibition at the exhibition space of the Moneo Brock architecture and design studio, exploring design from a creative and innovative female perspective in the 21st century.
