The Spanish studio Stone Designs has unveiled its latest interior design project created for the hotel operator Essendi: the Tribe Krakow Old Town hotel. A modern accommodation located next to the medieval old town of Krakow, a Polish city declared a World Heritage Site by UNESCO in 1978.
For the interior design of this space, Stone Designs has drawn inspiration from the density, contrasts, and distinctive vision that David Lynch brought to his feature films and series, seeking to bring to life the dreams of the American filmmaker in this installation. This space, just like the films of the American director, responds to the desire to create an exciting, eclectic, theatrical and inspiring atmosphere, where the guest feels like a firsthand participant in that film.
The theatricality, saturated colors, as well as spatial and element over-stimulation, invite guests to discover every corner of this hotel, always searching for that “something extra” that all visitors nowadays hope to find. With this, the studio seeks to create an atmosphere that surprises the visitor and turns them into a central character in the film that the Tribe Hotel emanates every day.
As in David Lynch’s scenes, lighting plays an essential role in recreating all the dense atmosphere the studio was aiming for. Highly theatrical lighting, full of accents on the most prominent furniture elements, as well as on works of art by Polish creators, carefully selected to complete the recreation of this hotel’s scenography. Shadows that become into pale settings, where the dim light plays a fundamental role in inviting the visitor to become part of an intimate life experience, with that touch of eccentricity Lynch loved so much.
In the same way, the entire color palette helps the lighting focus on what Stone Designs wants to highlight. Materiality is taken to the limit, zigzag patterns as recurrent as in Twin Peaks, or velvet fabrics enveloping corners where each story comes together with a freshly blended “Blue Velvet.” These are nuances that only further emphasize this immersive experience in a universe that previously could only be enjoyed in his films.
To recreate this ecosystem of elegance and sophistication, Stone Designs has selected lighting from the brands B.lux and Marset, and furniture from the firms Kettal and Capdell, bringing design and modernity to this cinematic setting.
