We enter the world of innovation and contrasts which Japanese visitors to the Spainalight installation enjoyed visiting during Tokyo Designers’ Week. This featured different objects connected by vibrant beams of light and colour which made them stand out as though they were actual museum artefacts.

Those fortunate enough to check out the stand discovered around 116 pieces by 43 designers and 52 companies, such as ABR, Actiu, Almerich, Alp Carpets, Andreu World, Arturo Alvarez, B.Lux, BD Barcelona Design, Bover, Capdell, Carpyen, DD by Resol Group, Enea, Estiluz, Fambuena, Gandía Blasco, Joquer, Kettal, Koo International, La Mediterránea, Lladró, LZF Lamps, Marset, Metalarte, Mobles 114, Nanimarquina, Naturtex, Nomon, Now Carpets, Point, RS Barcelona, Sancal, Santa & Cole, Stua, Uno Design, Vibia, Viccarbe, Vondom…

 

In Spainalight, the visitors’ interaction with the installation is key to the experience, putting them centre-stage so they can experience and perceive at first hand, with all five senses, the quality and passion that Spanish companies inject into their products.

 

Spainalight’s mise-en-scene pays tribute to the warm, Mediterranean light which Spanish designers make full use of in their work – a charming, playful light conducive to creativity, which celebrates innovation and avant-garde experimentation.

 

The exhibition also featured a documentary in which three major designers from different creative disciplines demonstrate, in an intimate, personal way, how the lighting in the environments they live in, influences, conditions and inspires their creative processes.
