SPANISH FURNITURE NEWS

Spanish companies, during the International Milan Furniture Fair exhibited their innovations and among them, Interiors From Spain highlights a few.

Kettal and its Vimini collection by Patricia Urquiola, named this because of its meaning in Italian: wicker. Viccarbe also featured designs by Urquiola (the Burin table), in addition to the ones created by Jaime Hayon (new additions to the Aleta family: the armchair, the chair with arms and the bistro table) and Victor Carrasco (the Keel shelves). STUA presented its new slogan ‘Forever Now’ and new models of its most iconic products, such as the Libera armchair by Jesús and Jon Gasca, the corner of the sofa Costura and the Solapa table. For its part, Sancal took the jungle to Milan with the designs of Yonoh Studio, Rafa García and Isaac Piñeiro.

Gandía Blasco did not miss the event and presented several collections, in addition to its new brand Diabla: Donut by Mikiya Kobayashi (an ingenious stool); TOUFFU by Violeta Alcaide-Manel Jiménez (a pet house); PLISY (a portable lamp made of polyethylene); and VALENTINA (the fancy version of the outdoor sofa) by Alejandra Gandia-Blasco. Andreu World presented new versions of the Nuez chair by Patricia Urquiola.

Mobles 114 also stood out in Milan with its different designs of chairs, tables, shelves and accessories. Because of the fair, Expormim revamped the FRAMES collection of chairs and armchairs by Jaime Hayón, made with a ‘radically modern’ material but handcrafted. Ondarreta presented new accessories and designs in collaboration with Yonoh Studio, which in turn also collaborated with Inclass presenting the Nim stools. For its part, Point also had creations by important Spanish designers such as Francesc Rifé who presented a new collection and Vicent Martínez, for his outdoor furniture.

We could see what was new from Andreu Carulla for Calma  (Alat, a collection of lounge sofas; Circus, a collection of tables; the Lola sunbed; the María armchair; Om parasols; and the Pepa Collection). Arlex also had several Spanish brands and designers, among which the exclusive presentation of its new Grid modular shelving stood out, designed by Eduard Juanola from Barcelona. The Easy Living 01 collection by Cármenes also stood out, signed by designers Francesc Rifé, La Mamba, Jorge Pensi and Savage, with pieces created to transmit balance and harmony.

About bathroom,  Cosentino stood out for its Silestone quartz surfaces by Cosentino and the new colours of the well-known Dekton collection. Fiora kept its previous line with square shapes, straight lines and a combination of materials.
