Basque firm Enea was founded in 1984 with a clear aim of producing contemporary furniture suitable for all types of spaces: offices, hotels, auditoria, conference halls and other public areas. The firm’s key qualities since then have been innovative manufacturing methods and an eco approach, since it uses recyclable, environmentally friendly materials.

Its commitment to creating products that fuse innovation, sustainability and profitablity — developed in collaboration with such high-profile and experienced designers as Lievore Altherr Molina, Josep Lluscà and Gabriel Teixidó — has ensured that the company is now one of Europe’s leading domestic and contract furniture brands. Versatile, durable, ergonomic, functional and comfortable, its furniture is the result of rigorous research carried out by the company’s research, development and innovation department.

Its standout pieces are Lottus and Ema, created by Lievore Altherr Molina. Lottus, which comprises a stool, chair, bench and table, is the company’s most versatile and comprehensive collection, and its pieces grace public spaces all over the world. Meanwhile, the Ema collection consists of stackable, lightweight, practical chairs and stools. Completing the company’s product line is the Oh! collection, designed by Gabriel Teixidó, which comprises a chair, table and bench, and the Eina and Bio chairs, Coma stool and Punto table, all by Josep Lluscà.

Enea has since become internationally successful and graces public spaces all over the world. Its most iconic, standout projects include the auditorium of the Palais des Congrès in Strasbourg, the Putrajaya Centre of Kuala Lumpur in Malaysia, the Basque Culinary Center, the Palacio de Congresos Kursaal in San Sebastián, Spain, Sydney’s Central Park mall, Royal Commission court and patisserie Zumbo, a restaurant in London department store Debenhams, the Rabobank bank in Breda in the Netherlands, Ink Hotel in Amsterdam, Nishogakusha University of Tokyo, Singapore University of Technology and Design, Grand Valley State University at Allendale, Michigan and Pinterest’s HQ in San Francisco.

Enea exports 85 per cent of its total turnover to over 25 countries all over the world. The company has a network of retail outlets consisting of agents scattered throughout Europe and exclusive distributors in the US, Australia, Colombia, India, Japan, New Zealand, Canada, Costa Rica, Mexico, Chile, Singapore, Malaysia and South Africa.
