Tecni Nova was founded in Yecla, Murcia in 1985 by Antonio Muñoz and Enriqueta Melero who set up this fascinating project with other members of the family. The aim was to make trend-setting sofas and armchairs that would adapt to consumers’ ever-changing lifestyles.¬
Soon, their furniture attracted the attention of Spanish trade experts and clients struck by the high quality of items grounded in careful craftsmanship, fine materials and strong character. Their success spurred them to add home designs to their catalogue, including furniture, lighting and decorative accessories, which together with upholstery, offered a complete home-décor range.
In the early 1990s, the family realised the significance of opening up to the rest of the world and went global in 1994. In recent years, this global expansion has been headed by second-generation Juan Carlos Muñoz, who became CEO in 2010 and has helped take the brand’s luxury furniture into more than 50 different markets. In 2012 he was joined by brother Miguel Angel, who has brought his experience as an architect to the company’s Art direction and is responsible for new creations which appeal to design professionals and clients seeking new designs and sensations.
In recent years, Tecni Nova has undertaken projects aimed at the contract channel, offering interior designers and decorators integral solutions to furnish larger spaces and communities. To this end, it has its own department of architects, interior design and product engineers, who tailor solutions to customer needs. The company has focused particularly on projects in hotels, embassies and the private residences of VIPs in Asia, Europa and America.
Tecni Nova makes all its products at its 15,000sqm factory in Yecla, Murcia in south-east Spain, where they also have a 2000sqm showroom. Quality and exclusivity are the hallmarks of their furniture, upholstery and lighting. The upholstery is done by leading international textile-makers and all material and finish suppliers undergo a strict selection procedure. All manufacturing is manual, and products are put together piece by piece with the know-how of master craftspeople, an eye for detail and personalisation, according to strict quality standards.
Tecni Nova produce a wide range of products: sofas, armchairs, sideboards, low tables, upholstery and lighting fixtures for decoration projects, making their catalogue of more than 800 items available to interior designers and architects. Their latest proposals include collections Fortune II and Outdoor.
Fortune II was created in 2017. Drawing on the nature around them, company artisans have used colour and material in everyday objects to provide domestic luxury. Fabric colours are inspired by Mediterranean summer and the light and colour of the sea is also encapsulated in their outdoor furniture. Both initiatives represent a new approach to luxury furnishing. Top-quality materials, craft expertise, design and cultural evocation define this new concept by Tecni Nova deluxe furnishing.
