Punt Mobles was founded in Valencia in 1980 by designers Lola Castelló and Vicent Martínez, building on the foundation of their earlier business venture, Pam i Mig. It was a fresh starting point, with the graphic element of the dot—punt in Valencian—symbolizing renewal. The firm’s design transitioned from its "Mediterranean-Scandinavian" roots to a more sophisticated, contemporary approach—less "handmade," more industrialized, and ultimately reflecting a more entrepreneurial vision. Its mission since then has been to design unique pieces that improve people's quality of life by combining craftsmanship with modern functionality.
One of its earliest milestones reflected this dedication to excellence and beauty. In 1985, Vicent Martínez created the Literatura Clásica bookcase, a groundbreaking design that transformed the brand's catalog and earned him the prestigious National Design Award in 1997. Thanks to the success of the Literatura bookcase, Punt repositioned itself in the international design imaginary, placing itself in the high-end design segment. The company forged an identity that bridges the traditional with the innovative, and the philosophy of great design with craftsmanship. To further expand and diversify its creative vision, Punt began collaborating with outside designers at the start of this century, beginning with Terence Woodgate, who designed the iconic Sussex sideboard. This piece reflected the brand's evolution towards a more global and contemporary language. During this phase of development, the company solidified its presence in the international market.
In 2012, Punt underwent another transition with the departure of Vicent Martínez, who, nevertheless, continued to collaborate on the project, now led by a new creative and management team. More recently, the company has strengthened its international expansion and secured its growth in the global market with the acquisition of a majority stake by the Zriser Group.
"Art, Craft, and Design"
For Punt, design is more than just functionality. It's an artistic expression that enriches life and reflects the culture of its time. The company also sees designers as true drivers of creation, bringing both profound material and intellectual value to the world. Through its connection with the present, Punt aims to contribute to the search for and creation of a collective modernity, designing pieces that not only make spaces more beautiful, but also play a role in the cultural and aesthetic evolution of their time.
Thus, Punt’s products stand out for their unique blend of craftsmanship, the company’s expertise, and the creativity of its collaborators. This artistic vision results in designs where every detail is carefully considered, almost like a sculpture. It's a philosophy that's encapsulated in "Art, Craft, and Design," which guides the company in all its ventures and decisions.
Design as a brand driver
Since receiving the National Design Award in 1997, the firm has sought to give new momentum to its creative identity. In its quest to stay at the forefront of design, the company recognized that embracing external collaborations would be key. Thus, in 2000, the company embarked on this journey with British designer Terence Woodgate and his Sussex collection. This project marked the beginning of a period in which collaborations with renowned designers played a crucial role in elevating the brand and establishing it as a benchmark in contemporary furniture design.
Since then, Punt has worked with leading international designers, including Mario Ruiz, Victor Carrasco, Odosdesign, Borja Garcia, Note Design Studio, Marc Krusin, Stephanie Jasny, Arik Levy, Monica Armani, Manel Molina, Norm Architects, Ludovica and Roberto Palomba, Christophe Pillet, Sebastian Herkner, and Rodolfo Dordoni.
Each designer has brought a unique vision that has enriched the firm's creativity and helped create exclusive, timeless products with a distinctly iconic character.
Best sellers and new products
The firm's star collections are those that not only excel in design and quality craftsmanship but also in their ability to adapt to various styles and needs. Some of the most iconic products include the Stockholm sideboards and tables and the Mitis tables by Mario Ruiz; the Rio sideboards and cupboards by Sebastian Herkner; the Literatura Open bookcase by Vicent Martínez; and the Hug chairs by Estudi Manel Molina and the Mava collection by Stephanie Jasny.
As for the new products launched in 2024, the Dune collection designed by Monica Armani has undoubtedly been the most notable. This collection, which includes an armchair, coffee tables, and a sideboard, has been exceptionally well received, particularly in contract, hospitality, and residential projects. This year, the collection was expanded to include a dining table and a hybrid piece that combines a sideboard and planter, further enhancing its versatility and appeal in different contexts.
Internationalization
Since its inception, Punt has been strongly committed to internationalization, with 80% of its production now destined for global markets. Its main export destinations include the United States and European countries such as the United Kingdom, France, and Belgium, where the brand has a strong presence. This global approach has been instrumental in establishing the company as a benchmark in contemporary furniture design.
In recent years, Punt has begun to explore new international markets, with a growing interest in Asia. The company already has a presence in Dubai and is aiming to expand into other countries in the region, demonstrating its strategy of growth and adaptation to new environments and cultures.
As for its international projects, Punt stands out for its collaboration on contract work for major brands in Paris and London, where Punt pieces have helped to define sophisticated and functional spaces. As a result of this global journey, the company has received prestigious awards including the Wallpaper Design Award, the Red Dot Design Award, and the Interior Design Award.
