Supplying the project with its TNK A500 and Urban 30 chairs and bespoke furniture.
Actiu, the Spanish company which specialises in manufacturing office furniture, has just supplied furniture for airline Iberia’s new HQ in Madrid. The HQ centralises all its offices in a new building which will be occupied by around 1,000 staff. The building’s architect is Gabriel Allende.
Actiu custom-made most of the furniture for the new office at its HQ in the town of Castalla in the province of Alicante. For the open-plan offices, Actiu supplied the Vital Plus ST table collection and TNK A500 chair — a seductive piece which scooped the prestigious Red Dot Design Award in 2012 — and provided custom-made lockers, cupboards and filing areas. The offices also have meeting rooms and a ‘Silent Room’, a soundproofed space which allows employees to find somewhere where they can concentrate fully. This room has been furnished with two bespoke tables capable of seating 18 people in the main Council Room. Both tables are made of melamine with an oak finish and incorporate a filing unit which is well disguised but easy to access. These tables come with TNK A500 chairs which — upholstered in a black fabric called Napel Negro — have a more elegant look.
Allende founded his architecture studio in Madrid in 1982, notable among his well-known projects are the Fundación Santillana, the offices of Aresbank, Morgan Stanley, Aguirre Newman and Santa Lucía, as well as the Hotel Paseo del Arte, among others. For the interior design of its own offices, Allende has used furniture and homeware by Actiu, a leading office furniture company which exports its goods to over 50 countries, and has showrooms all over the world: the UK, France, Australia, Mexico and Peru, among other countries.
