A Stonehenge-inspired bathroom collection created by Estudi{H}ac.
The Valencia-based designer Jose Manuel Ferrero, who heads up the industrial and interior design studio Estudi{H}ac, has created the Men{H}ir collection – bathroom fittings made of wood and natural stone – for the company L’Antic Colonial.
Men{H}ir comprises washbasins, shower trays, containers and bathroom accessories, and strives to transform these into sculptural objects with enhanced value. Inspired by the menhirs (standing stones) of Stonehenge, their forms aspire to have an elegant, clean-lined aesthetic. The collection’s attractive textures spring from the company’s passion for materials which, in this case, combines stone – marble – chosen for its strength and durability, with wood – oak – picked for its warm feel. The use of marble and wood, with their varying finishes and colours, makes the pieces very versatile, allowing them to be combined in many ways.
Ferrero set up Estudi{H}ac in 2003. It favours simplicity and detail when creating its products and spaces, both of which make a big impact. Since then, it’s worked for such companies as Toyota, designing one of its car’s interiors, Vondom, for which it created the Vase lamp and, more recently, the Marquis rug (both for outdoor use), Sancal, Do+Ce and Point, for which it produced the Japan collection.
L’Antic Colonial – which is part of the Porcelanosa Group – specialises in producing natural materials. Its exclusive products include clay, slate, marble, natural wood, mosaic as well as items – washbasins, worktops and bathroom fittings – allowing the company to offer a complete service when undertaking projects.
