A ‘talking’ shop that allows customers to interact with the space and create a dialogue.
In late 2012, the iconic Spanish footwear company Camper opened a shop in Istabul, with its interior designed by Martí Guixé.
The new space has been conceived as a Camper ‘Talking Shop’ –an idea for a store where customers can interact with the space and enter into a dialogue with the footwear brand. This conversation is triggered by moveable, white panels, each bearing a red or black letter. The letters can be moved around so visitors can create their own sentences and words. The shop’s interior is therefore constantly changing and communicates with people in real time.
The shop comprises two spaces at different heights, each featuring two seats. Both are made of three cylinders covered with Spanish firm Nanimarquina’s carpet, Kala, which inject colour and a modern vibe into the shop, and which customers can try shoes on.
Guixé’s interior design is typically unconventional and brims with imaginative, accessible and simple ideas. He began collaborating with this famous Mallorcan brand in 1998, at which point it started to concentrate on the international market, while placing emphasis on its local character as its main strength and distinguishing feature. Guixé’s association with Camper has been extremely fruitful, and kicked off with the opening of two shops designed by him in London and Barcelona, followed by his designs for Camper shops in New York, Tokyo and Miami, among other cities.
