Jesús Gasca redesigns the piece, incorporating a swivel base.
The Spanish company Stua has reinterpreted one of its most iconic chairs – Gas – with a redesign by Jesús Gasca, who has given it a swivel base on castors.
Well-designed and comfortable, Gasca’s new chair – which has armrests and a polished chrome frame – easily adapts to the needs of both offices and home offices. As graceful as the original Gas chair, which has simple legs, the swivel version boasts a slender, elegant aluminium base.
The original Gas chair was designed in 2000, is one of Stua’s best-selling pieces and has gone on to become internationally famous. Indeed, it furnishes such iconic buildings as the Solomon R Guggenheim Museum in New York and Acropolis Museum in Athens.
Founded in 1983 to design, manufacture and distribute contemporary, timeless furniture, Stua creates pieces that are both clean-lined and Scandinavian in style and have a Mediterranean flavour, which makes them highly suitable for public spaces and projects. Stua’s latest creation is the sleekly minimalist wooden Lau table, an equally timeless design, also created by Gasca.
