Various sustainable lighting designs created by Joseph Lluscà.
Simon, the leading Spanish lighting manufacturer in the electric and electronic sector, has recently branched out into lighting via its new brand, Fluvia, which has just launched its first collections – Slim and Flat – created by high-profile, Spanish designer Josep Lluscà.
The Slim collection comprises lighting that stands out for being technologically cutting-edge and for casting a super-powerful light. It also offers a whole host of efficient ways to illuminate workplaces in a professional, appropriate fashion. A variation on Slim is the design Slim System, which is made up of light modules that help create a variety of architectural environments in a flexible, versatile way. Finally, Flat consists of minimalist, free-standing lights designed for workstations and desks suitable for all office environments. All these designs incorporate LED lights, which both save a lot of energy and are extremely low-maintenance.
Fluvia was set up with the aim of creating different kinds of spaces via a clever use of light. Using light to design spaces isn’t just about providing light – it can also have a psychological impact, highlights architectural features and creates unusual moods suited to how a particular space is used. The lights also avoid being tricksy or having superfluous details by achieving a perfect balance of functionality and good looks.
Lluscà is one of Spain’s most high-profile industrial designers. He has received numerous, international awards for his designs, one of the most recent being a Design Excellence Award (in the best product design category) for his Kat and Netkat chair designs, given last year by the International Interior Design Association (IIDA).
