Zig Zag mirror by Mut Design

A truly magical system of modular mirrors.

Valencia-based Mut Design, purveyor of emotional design, as the company describes itself, has created Zig Zag, a system of mirrors comprising a multitude of surfaces and facets at 45º angles that offer intriguingly different viewpoints of the surrounding space. Zig Zag creates different perspectives of the same object or space, depending on where the user stands in relation to it – it could be a pretty spectrum of colours that graduate from one to another or a reflection projected across the piece’s angled surfaces that gleams in an attractive way or generates optical illusions.

Committed as ever to creating designs whose character is partly shaped by how the user interacts with them, Mut Design has once again created a piece with infinite possibilities, thanks, in this case, to its modular nature, its huge variety of colours – inspired by the designers’ favourite landscapes – and to the ease with which this magical mirror can be assembled.

This highly original piece embodies the studio’s philosophy of reinterpreting everyday objects in new, expressive ways. Other examples include its rattan, ceiling-hung chair, Naútica, designed for Expormim, and its new idea for a hydraulic floor tile, Drops, for Entic Designs.
