BOHO-BLING
Spanish designer Miguel Herranz unveiled the metallic curtains Boho-Bling — his latest creation for KriskaDecor — at the exhibition WantedDesign in New York last May.
Boho-Bling is inspired by the free spirit of the boho aesthetic with which Herranz identifies. This evocative piece plays with the visual impact of metal-chain curtains which intertwine to form colourful, dazzling compositions created using a palette of up to 20 hues. As they swing, they create a harmonious, sensual sound and, as they collide, generate a seductive noise that goes ‘bling bling’, all boosted by bells added to them which reinforce the piece’s boho image. With its half-industrial, half-handcrafted vibe, it’s a sculptural, decorative feature that will add a boho touch to any space. The designer sums up its style as ‘Industrial handcraftsmanship through design’.
Herranz, who’s been a freelance industrial designer since 1994, describes himself as a designer, thinker, speaker and dreamer who embraces chaos. He always aims to take a commercial approach by which he means not just sales but the capacity to connect with society. He’s created pieces in collaboration with such firms as LZF Lamps, Uno Design and Concepta.
KriskaDecor’s metallic curtains, which can be customised, grace many public spaces, such as Abba The Museum in Stockholm, the lobby of the Royal Beach hotel in Tel Aviv, the Vincci Gala hotel in Barcelona, the hospitality area of Manchester City Football Club’s Etihad Stadium and the Stora Hotellet hotel in the Swedish town of Umea.
