The 3,000 euro first prize went to Canadian designer Virosh Ranqalla for his Kollar stool, praised by the judges for its beauty, versatility and timelessness, and for its innovation and versatility. The stool can be manufactured for flatpacking, making it an affordable piece, and it's designed to be useful in many different interiors.
The second prize went for a second time to Belgian Thierry Gossuin (he was runner-up 2013) for Pattern, a swivel chair made from a moulded plywood seat and backrest that sits on a central column. The user can adjust the height and its curvaceous flexible seat makes it very ergonomic. The judges liked its elegance and modernity and felt it had 'equilibrium, harmony and uniqueness'.
