This year 129 companies from 25 countries entered the Design Plus competition, with their products being judged on their use of energy efficient technology, ecology as well as design flair. The awards were presented during the recent Light + Building fair in Frankfurt (see our in depth review of the fair).

Red Dot award scheme, administered in the German city of Essen, had more than five thousand entries this year and Red Dots were given to 1,304 products. Winners will attend the presentation dinner in Essen on 4 July. Capdell, Emiliana Design Studio, Muka Design Lab, Andreu World, Viccarbe, GAN, Arkoslight, Marset, Estiluz, Levantina and Cosentino surprised the judges with their brilliant and innovative designs.
