HD Expo
Taking place in early May, HD Expo – which celebrates its 25th anniversary this year - is a crucial trade show for brands that supply the hospitality sector. The expo attracts leading interior designers, architects, hoteliers, specifiers and developers and 2016 saw a four per cent rise in visitor numbers, taking the figure to well over 12,000.
ICFF
The International Contemporary Furniture Fair at the Jacob K Javits convention centre in Manhattan turned 28 this year and it saw a big rise in both exhibitor and visitor numbers: 717 companies from around the world exhibited and more than 35,000 trade professionals attended the four-day fair.
Eighteen Spanish exhibitors included: lighting brands Santa & Cole, Marset, Estiluz, Bover, Arturo Alvarez; luxury outdoor furniture brand Kettal; ceramics brands Roca, Porcelanosa and Todagres, and games and furniture manufacturer RS Barcelona.
Clerkenwell Design Week
Clerkenwell Design Week started seven years ago as a local London event to encourage people to visit the design showrooms opening up in the area. Fast forward to 2016 and the fair attracts some 35,000 visitors from around the world who come to see products and installations from some international 300 brands.
It's a three-day event that celebrates architecture and design through showroom displays, installations, seminars and temporary exhibition pavilions. And Spanish design is a big feature throughout.
NEOCON
Taking place in early June, NeoCon in Chicago is the finale of the major US design trade fairs - and it's big. Launched in the late 1960s, NeoCon this year attracted more than 50,000 visitors and 500 exhibitors. It also presented more than 100 seminars covering interior design for hotels, hospitality venues, offices, health centres/hospitals, retail and government buildings.
Spanish exhibitors included outdoor furniture brands Vondom and Expormim, Ofita and JMM office furniture brands, KriskaDECOR aluminium curtains, lighting company Leds-C4, fabric house Naturtex, and Woop Rugs, exhibiting under the Interiors from Spain umbrella. Products from each company were displayed in Patterns, a stunning installation by Lejarraga Estudio themed around an office interior.
