Spanish lighting firm Fambuena has revived the tradition of using noble materials, wowing us with its new lighting collection Essences.
As its name suggests, Essences aims to revive something essential — the best of that tradition of expressing beauty, balance and harmony of light. To do so, it revives the use of such noble materials as marble, alabaster, wood and brass which cast light and play with viewers’ emotions, enveloping them in a warm, intimate atmosphere. The use of these materials evokes the company’s roots in the handcrafted and reunites us with that serene era free of artificiality — and of one-off products. All these preserve the essence of Fambuena, whose products are minimalist, functional and have a particular quality of light that thrills and seduces.
Essence encapsulates different families of products — both new designs and reissues of older pieces which have been recast using such noble materials as brass, alabaster and wood…
The new designs include the collections Reflections, Quarz and Sphere. Reflections — a collection of pendant lights designed by Garcia Cumini — comprises various brass designs embossed with brass and pewter and paired with a cylinder of natural ash. The light source is a built-in plate of a warm LED light which casts a very special reflection on the metallic elements and on the wood. Quarz was designed by Vicente Aleixandre and consists of a collection of pendant lights that evoke empires of yore, featuring as they do brass hoops and white alabaster plates. Finally, Sphere, created by Joan Lao, includes pendant, table and floor lights with metal rods in brass, bronze or pewter.
What’s more, Essences includes reissues of older designs that incorporate new materials and finishes — such as the Plié table light designed by the studio Vitale, the Wings wall lights by PerezOchando, the Excéntrica lights created by Alex Fernandez Camps, the Book lights by Angel Marti and Enrique Delamo, the Hoop lights and ceiling light by Nicola Nerboni and Luz Oculta Wood Metal lights, designs by Lao, which Fambuena has produced this year.
Since 2015, Fambuena has created, produced and marketed designs by young creatives from all over the world under the artistic direction of Vicente García Jiménez. All these collections are marked by a particular atmosphere that transforms the products into objects with their own emotional visual language.
