Stone Designs studios has designed the interior of this high-performance videogame centre for the Movistar Riders in Madrid’s Matadero arts centre.
The values behind the Movistar Riders Project are reflected in the aesthetics and functionality of this space created by the Madrid design studio. Stone Design has sought to respect the unique architecture of Madrid’s Matadero arts centre, which is home to the initiative, using a series of structures made from contrasting materials which are in perfect harmony with the building. Rather than drawing inspiration from the gaming world, the studio has gone for materials and a look that focuses on making the team members at the heart of the project feel at home.
Technology has now become part of our everyday lives, and so have videogames. But there was once a time when it conjured up visions of travelling across the universe. In a way, videogames have made us dream about going even further than NASA’s engineers on those early journeys into space. They let us live and fight for survival in non-existent planets and civilisations brought to life by gaming. The age when Russia and NASA launched their conquest of outer space has inspired this elegant venue which blends retro with futuristic. The cosy space surrounds the user with wood, trapezoidal doors, chairs and different areas inspired by the elements that fired up the imagination in the space age.
In short, this welcoming and highly practical setting will put the Movistar Riders team at their ease. Brand and corporate colours pervade every detail and gamers can live out their passion while acquiring the competitive edge that will take them to the forefront of the Spanish gaming scene and make them one of the leading teams in Europe.
To decorate the new centre, Stone Design has opted for furniture collections by Spanish manufacturers: Bend bench designed by Stone Designs for Actiu, Wing chairs created by Ramos & Bassols for Actiu and Arc chairs designed by Yonoh Studio for Inclass. Luxiona group has provided the lighting.
