Ambi, Oscar de la Hera’s reusable chopsticks, have joined Illusion Spinner to become the Spanish designer’s second product on sale in the museum design store at New York’s MoMA.
De la Hera has fashioned the chopsticks from wenge wood, usually associated with musical instruments, furniture and floors. They come with a leaf-shaped silicone holder, available in a variety of colors, to keep them together so they don’t go astray. Ambi chopsticks reflect the Spanish designer’s aim of reconstructing our natural environment. Consequently, 50% of the royalties will be donated to support reforestation.
In an earlier partnership between the MFA Products of Design programme and MoMA, De la Hera created Cubi, a glass guitar-shaped bowl sculpture inspired by the 2016 Picasso exhibition at the New York museum.
Despite his youth, Oscar de la Hera has already received numerous accolades and has worked for more than 20 companies, including Nike, Delta Air Lines, Panasonic and Samsung.
Other Spanish designers also have products on sale at MoMA. Inma Bermúdez‘s Follow Me lamp for Marset and Jordi Canudas’s Closca Fuga helmet and Dipping lamp collection for Marset are also on sale at this international design flagship.
